Inside Ashgrove Cheese: Chef Rhys Hannan Explores the Story

At Ashgrove Cheese, we’re all about celebrating the incredible flavours of Tasmania. Our rich, creamy cheeses are crafted with care, using traditional methods and recipes passed down through generations. From hand-turning curds to carefully curating every step of the process, we take pride in delivering a true taste of Tassie, with cheeses known for their smooth texture and higher fat content.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Left Off the Map co-host Rhys Hannan 🍽️ to our cheese-making facilities. Rhys had the chance to immerse himself in the art of traditional cheddar-making, where he put his hand to work at a 17,000-litre vat of cheese. After that, he headed to our Dairy Door Visitor Centre, right at the front of our on-farm factory in Elizabeth Town, where he crafted the ultimate cheese toasties 🧀🍞. It was a delicious and fun experience that highlighted the richness and flavour of our cheeses.

Produced by Tasmanians for Tasmanians, Left Off the Map takes viewers on a journey through the island’s unique flavours and hidden gems. Hosted by MasterChef’s Ben Milbourne, along with Holly Bowden and Rhys, the show is a celebration of the very best Tasmania has to offer.
